The first day of the Wealth Management EDGE conference at The Boca Raton resort in Boca Raton, Fla., featured a whirlwind of summits about artificial intelligence, private markets, investing strategies and more, along with a series of keynote addresses that ranged from the macro to the personal to the “absurd.”
The conference, which features 2,000 attendees (including 1,000 advisors), was jam-packed with sessions ranging from a focus on commodities and cryptocurrencies to the great wealth transfer to how AI will continue to disrupt the business of financial advice.
Author and foreign affairs expert Robert Kaplan outlined the geopolitical issues advisors should be aware of, harkening back to the days of Napoleon and the Weimar Republic to argue that markets are resilient to war, though a conflict with China over Taiwan may be different.
And speaker, author and humanitarian Michael Crossland got the audience emotional and earned a standing ovation for his speech about the power of perspective and how “Adversity doesn’t define you. How you deal with it does” among other similar messages.
Finally, Integrated Partners’ Matt Ackerman led a panel of industry luminaries through a Jeopardy-style question-and-answer session featuring references to professional wrestling, rap lyrics and television show theme songs.
The day wrapped with an outdoor reception featuring shrimp cocktail, oysters, lobster medallions and more.
