Norwich Tech junior Kyle Stringer has been voted The Bulletin Athlete of the Week for the week of May 25 to June 1.
The Warriors’ junior was the winning pitcher in Norwich Tech’s 6-1 victory over Wolcott Tech in the CTC baseball tournament championship game. Stringer allowed just one run and struck out three over 5.1 innings. He also went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs at the plate.

Stringer also earned the win in Norwich Tech’s 12-2 win over Wilcox Tech in the CTC semifinals. The lefthander allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one.
Last week saw plenty of standout performances in softball, boys outdoor track and field, girls outdoor track and field, and boys golf across Eastern Connecticut. While there’s no shortage of talent, we went and found the best of the best.

The Trailblazers junior won a four-way playoff to win the ECC boys golf tournament individual championship. Blanchard shot a 73 to help Killingly finish tied for second with Waterford in the team competition.
Nevaeh Dailey, Plainfield
The Panthers junior was the runner up in the girls discus with a throw of 134-9 at the State Open championship meet.
Kaegan Hirst, Plainfield
The Panthers senior placed sixth in the boys high jump (6-4) at the State Open championship meet.

Peter Hoagland, Norwich Tech
The Warriors sophomore shot an 81 to lead Norwich Tech to their second straight CTC boys golf tournament championship. Hoagland also won the 2 man best ball competition with teammate Luke Henderson.

Tyler Hollis, Norwich Free Academy
The Wildcats junior was the runner up in a four-way playoff for the ECC boys golf tournament individual championship. Hollis shot a 73 to help NFA win their second straight ECC team championship.
Hollis also shot a terrific 5-under-par 32 to earn medalist honors in a tri-match against East Catholic and Killingly at Tallwood Country Club in Hebron.

Tycen LaBelle, Griswold
The Wolverines junior won the boys 3200-meter run at the State Open championship meet. LaBelle’s winning time was a personal best 9 minutes and 14.40 seconds.

Aubrey Martin, Norwich Free Academy
The Wildcats senior catcher had three hits, including a game-winning suicide squeeze bunt, to give NFA a thrilling 1-0 walk-off win over Newtown in the second round of the Class LL girls softball state tournament.
Oriana Pescatello, Norwich Free Academy
The Wildcats sophomore finished fifth in the 1600-meter run with a personal best time of 4:58.05 at the State Open championship meet. She also placed sixth in the 800 meter run (2:17.57).
