President Donald Trump has announced that more than 100 million barrels of oil and over 200 commercial ships have transited through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a Wednesday Truth Social post, he said the results were obtained through a “secret mission,” which he ordered in May.

“Last month, I directed our Great U.S. Military to execute a secret mission to support Oil Tankers and other Commercial Ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Today, I am pleased to announce that this effort has resulted in more than 100 MILLION Barrels of Oil making its way through the Strait, and into the Open Market,” the president claimed.

“More than 200 Commercial Ships have safely traveled through the Strait. This wildly successful effort is because the UNITED STATES of AMERICA CONTROLS the Strait of Hormuz – NOT Iran. Their military is defeated, and their economy is lost. It’s over for Iran!” he continued.

His announcement came before United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced another wave of “self-defense strikes” against Iran as hostilities ramp up in the region.

After announcing the attacks, CENTCOM also denied claims that the Strait of Hormuz is closed in a Wednesday social media post.

“Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claims that the Strait of Hormuz is closed,” the command stated.

“Commercial ships are continuing to transit in and out of the Strait of Hormuz tonight,” it said in refutation.

On Thursday, the command reiterated the claim that the “Strait of Hormuz remains open for transit:”

  • “Safe pathways are established for commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
  • The pathways are available to all vessels not violating the blockade against Iran.
  • Hundreds of ships have transited in the last two months.
  • U.S. forces are postured to defend against Iranian aggression.”

The command echoed the president’s words: “Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz.”

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump said nearly two dozen vessels transited out of the strait in one night.

“We’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil,” Trump claimed.

“We took out the other night 22 ships, late at night with no lights, because they don’t have any radar, because we blasted the crap out of them,” the president said of Iran.
