The 2026 Stanley Cup Final matchup has been set. The Carolina Hurricanes capped off their domination of the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Final, and they meet the Vegas Golden Knights with the Cup on the line.
Facing a 2-0 deficit on home ice, the Hurricanes pulled off a miraculous comeback in Game 2 to even the series on Thursday night. Carolina was down 2-0 midway through the third period when they stormed back to take a 3-2 lead. After a late goal from Golden Knights captain Mark Stone tied the score, Seth Jarvis notched the overtime winner with a power play tally.
The Hurricanes were able to avoid a disastrous start to the Final in Raleigh, and they will take a split with them to Las Vegas. The Golden Knights still have home-ice advantage, as well as a red-hot Brett Howden, on their side. Despite the gut-wrenching loss, Vegas just need to handle its business at T-Mobile Arena.
