Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) on Monday slammed American Airlines as “incompetent,” after he and two other members of Congress missed House votes due to delays.
“Hey @AmericanAir, three members of Congress will miss votes tonight because of your incompetent airline,” Miller wrote on social platform X,without naming the other representatives.
Miller, who represents a district in the northeastern part of Ohio, said he has been driving to Washington, D.C., for the last seven months because of the airline’s delays.
“We have been on the tarmac for over two hours and are now going back to the gate. Pathetic,” the two-term congressman added.
The House on Monday passed a hefty package of kids online safety bills in a 267-117 vote, with 47 members not voting. The lower chamber is scheduled to break for a 10-day recess on Friday, ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
American replied to Miller, writing on X, “We know how important it is to get where you’re going on time, and we’re truly sorry for the delay. Our ground team is working hard to get you moving soon.”
American has replied to a host of customers complaining about delays and other issues on Monday. The airline has delayed 562 flights so far Monday, according to data from flight-tracking site FlightAware.
American has also canceled nine flights, two of which were bound for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in D.C. and two scheduled to fly into Miami International Airport, according to FlightAware.
